We have been lucky enough to have been joined by Chris Sperring MBE this year, a local Naturalist and broadcaster. Chris has led a series of monthly wildlife walks throughout 2017, telling us all about the changes and things to look out for with wildlife, flora and fauna in the Big Worle area. As well as increasing people's understanding of the abundant wildlife around in our urban area, he has also been sharing ideas on practical conservation that locals can easily achieve and that will support local wildlife.
As well as the wildlife walks, Chris has also run evening classes in birdsong recognition and astronomy for beginners. These free courses have been enjoyed by lots of people in our community and we have learned lots from Chris and his extensive knowledge!
